Traditional art

Traditional art

Traditional art stands for all cultural expressions that reflect the human creativity of a community, that was passed down from generation to generation and which, up to a certain extent, can be seen in the different areas of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Any form of traditional art is much more than a simple form of entertainment. It can recount the history of a community, it can praise and/or honor a heroic person of a community and it can indicate the social reflection of a community (both the achievements and struggles of a community).

Traditional art, beside theatrical and musical expressions, for example, can also include the making of a bust, cabinetry works, making traditional bottle dolls with clothes and practicing several other traditional trades that are no longer practiced nowadays (tinsmith, silversmith, tailor).

Making musical instruments according to the traditional method is also part of the expressive art of a community.
